Carlsbad Youth Lacrosse Coaching

Your Carlsbad Youth Lacrosse coaches are not just a coaching staff; we are a family of coaches who have players on our teams, community members in Carlsbad who want to give back to their city, and heroes who serve our country home and abroad. Our goal as coaches is to motivate; never humiliate. To encourage your players to give it everything they have and leave it all on the field. For us, it's more than winning; it's life. Thanks for trusting your family to us.

From Our Directors

Ryan King is the president of Carlsbad Youth Lacrosse and Sam Farrell is the girl's directors, and together they are the ones leading our club into a successful future. They're focused on developing your players both on and off the field, but more than anything, they're a part of a community that cares more about your player as a person than they are as a competitor... even though we win championships every year. See you out on the field!

All Carlsbad Youth Lacrosse coaches are background checked and required to obtain certification in Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Child Abuse Prevention.

He brought his son to a CYL clinic in 2019 and noticed that Coach Ryan King didn’t have many volunteers helping out. Tyler stepped in and hasn’t looked back. He has assisted with CYL coaching as well as clinics and club tournament teams. Having grown up in the competitive Hockey arena, Tyler has found that his experience crosses over well in to coaching lacrosse. He loves to have a part in creating strong team relationships and supporting the awesome community of CYL players and families. In his free time Tyler enjoys traveling to his homes in Mexico for fishing and boating. His family has followed him into the mountains each year for snowboarding, backpacking and camping. He loves to share the outdoors and stewardship with anyone who will attend.

She became the first CU senior in program history in 2016 where she ended her career with an Offensive Player of the Week (2014), and All-MPSF Second Team (2015) awards. After graduating, Sarah moved to Southern California where she began her professional career as an automation engineer working in the life science industry. When she moved back to the San Diego area she got in contact with Sam Farrell (CYL Girl's Director) and her Mad Dog program. Sarah began coaching the Mad Dog West Elite teams during the spring of 2022. After moving to Encinitas (where she now resides), Sam convinced Sarah to join the CYL coaching squad! It seemed like the perfect full circle moment to help build and develop this youth program as her Dad once did in her hometown!
